About Me

My background

I have always loved learning, communication and travel. Before training as a psychotherapist I worked for many years within the education sector and have vast experience as a language teacher. Building relationships with my students and watching them grow into confident learners has been very rewarding.

I decided to train as a psychotherapist for several reasons. I have always been interested in psychology and interpersonal communication. My family fostered children on a short-term basis when I was younger and this experience had a major impact on my world view and my role as a helper.

My philosophy

Psychotherapy means many different things to people. I see my role as therapist as being that of a curious, compassionate companion who can offer fresh perspectives from a caring, non-judgemental position.

I feel strongly about giving a voice to those women who feel they are not heard in our society. My recent thesis called Menopause in the Psychotherapeutic Space taught me a great deal about women’s experiences of menopause in Ireland. If you would like to know more about my research do not hesitate to get in touch.
